World Class Citizen Sliding Head Lathe now up and running

Following on from another year of growth, we have now installed and commissioned a new Sliding Head Citizen lathe at our manufacturing facility in the West Midlands.

During 2017, we noticed an increased demand from a number of customers for high volume turned parts. Our philosophy at Apex is to invest in machining technology to support customer requirements. We took the decision in late summer of 2017 that a sliding head machine was the way forward and installed the machine in December of 2017. The training and commissioning has gone very smoothly and we are now at full running capacity.

Charity Land End to John O Groats

Apex director Michaela is now on day 4 of her amazing Land End to John O Groats challenge. With her sister Julie and Father Martin, they are attempting the 1000mile epic journey in 14 days. They are raising money for a great cause which is very close to our hearts. Oh, did I mention that Martin is 86 and will enter the Guinnes Book of Records for being the oldest person to have been recognised to have completed the challenge. Solar Powers on

Like many, I am very concerned about the impact of climate change on peoples lives and plant and animal diversity. At Apex, our investment in Solar is significantly reducing our carbon footprint and operating costs. The profile of dawn to dusk solar generation (date 11.08.2022) from our panels shows how effective they are in the powering our machines. I predict that we will run mostly off grid with our lights out machines over the coming weekend. If you are looking for high precision machined components that don't cost the earth then please do contact us.

Further Investment in Apex Quality Systems

At Apex, we are always looking to continually improve our service and processes. Our new Quality and Customer Services Manager, Scott has now been on board for 6 months and is making a significant contribution to how we assure quality to our customers. Operational quality processes, First Off Sign off and PPAP provisions have already been improved to ensure better conformance to customer requirements. Improved Gauge Calibration systems and other key quality processes have also been improved. Scott is a great key addition to our senior team. Going Green

Apex Machining Services Ltd have made a significant investment in Solar PV. Managing Director, Andrew Casey explains why: "All businesses have a duty to protect the environment. With 24 CNC machines and 24/7 operations, I felt uncomfortable about the carbon footprint of the company. With this investment, I am hoping to be able to generate a third to one half of our electricity requirements with Carbon free Solar. I'm very proud that we have taken this decision".

We are pleased to welcome Sebastion to Apex. Apex who is undertaking his level 3 apprentice is the latest addition to our growing team. Sebastion will be working on our sliding head section which we have been investing in heavily. He is already making a difference. Well done and Welcome.
